Hair Fair will open from 0.01am SLT 1st July and close 11.59pm SLT 16th July.

This is the list of Hair Stores participating in Hair Fair 2017. The list is divided by Sim location. Slurls are included but direct teleporting is not available. To use the slurls once at the location of the event, copy slurl to chat then right click and show on Map. This will give you a beacon to navigate towards. We do hope that you visit all the booths at Hair Fair as every creator has done their best to provide their best for this event.

Donation amounts vary throughout the event, but all items do donate a minimum of 15% to Wigs for Kids. There are also Kiosks for direct donations, and Bandana Booths that donate 100% of all purchases.

Improvements are coming… Are you ready?

Hey again MAddicts!

This week marks quite a few firsts for me, and for my blog… so if you don’t mind, I might take a moment to share those with you whilst I lean against a wall and look gorgeous (did anyone else need to rob a bank after this round of Uber? So much amazing fitmesh… between Addams, Blueberry, Just Because, Vinyl, Tres Blah… oh let’s just say between all the designers there – I’m pretty sure they walked away with every linden I have).

Anyway I got a little off topic there. *Shakes fist at talented designers*

Firsts. I’ve had so many important milestones in my time blogging – my first 100 hits, my first comment, the first time someone ‘liked’ a post I made… all the way to now, with nearly 600 followers and getting close to 300,000 hits! I’m so proud of these stats (rightly or wrongly), because they tell me that you like reading my blog, and that is honestly the most amazing feeling in the world MAddicts… so thank you 🙂

But with all good things, they must come to an end…. JUST KIDDING – with all good things, there comes a time when they need to be made even BETTER… and you’ve been asking, so I’ve been listening. This blog is currently in migration from the platform it runs on now (wordpress.com) to its own independent domain! Nothing will change, not even the web address – but what it will mean is that I can start to offer all the things you guys have been wanting – like video tutorials, the ability to give your opinion on bodies/heads and fashion by use of a ‘star’ rating system, and much much more! Mesh Body Addicts is growing up guys *sniff* she’s becoming an adult!! So whilst that happens, if you notice she’s looking a tad odd…. forgive her, it means I stuffed something up and will fix it as soon as I realise 😛 haha.

Now, on to more exciting topics – the FAIR!! It’s been a looooong week for this blogger, with preparations for the Mesh Body Addicts Fair fully underway. Overall, it’s been such a rewarding experience planning and executing this event, but I’ll be glad when the 1st rolls around and I can exhale!!

On that note, I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me through this journey – designers, readers, other bloggers, friends… so many of you offered your time and assistance to help me make this a reality, and I’ll forever be in your debt for your unwavering support of me. A few special shout outs (not that you’re not all special!) to Annie from Just Because, Mishi from Blueberry and last but never least, Ash from AviCandy. The three of you held my hand when I needed it, gave me words of encouragement and helped me when I needed you. You’re all amazing, so thank you so much ❤

Weekly Fitmesh Finds & Event updates!

It’s that time of week again MAddicts – time for Weekly Fitmesh Finds! Now for those of you who use Facebook, I’ve started a new group that will feature only posts by me, and give you real-time up to date information on high quality fitmesh finds. Sun, Sand and the Mesh Body Addicts Fair…

Well MAddicts, another week is just flying by as we draw ever closer to the Mesh Body Addicts Fair! Just under two weeks to go now, so I’m working madly in the background to make sure the event is a fun and memorable one 🙂

In the meantime though, the world of mesh bodies doesn’t stop – and a new round of N21 is on its way, featuring a bikini from Blueberry! Belleza lovers, get excited now – this sexy ‘kini comes with Isis, Freya and Venus sizes in addition to Maitreya and Slink sizes!! I’ve been waiting to see a bikini on Isis, and this one is rigged to perfection! In case you want to get the look I’m using – I’m wearing one of the N21 exclusive patterns on the bottoms, and the standard aqua colour for the top on mine, so know that you can mix and match however you like! The fit is so perfect in fact, that I could even wear my Apple May top over it!

In other news, there have been a lot of new designers (and new old designers, like Apple May who has just started making fitmesh for Belleza Isis and Freya) hitting the mesh body fitmesh and mesh body skin markets, so I’ve revamped my designer lists a little to make it easier for everyone. Weekly Fitmesh Finds – 15th July

Well LOGO Head lovers, I have some good news for you! The LOGO Alex Mesh Head has now become Omega compatible – and what’s even better, is that Essences and Pink Fuel will be releasing skins for this head! For now though, I thought I’d throw on my favourite Omega head applier skin, Jewel by Lumae, and go for a wander!

The LOGO heads have been widely popular since they became the first mainstream mesh heads on the grid, and have always been popular with photographers particularly because of the number of expressions that come with the head, but the skins have never quite been to my taste, so I’m excited to see an Omega option become available! Before you get too excited though, there are some drawbacks – The Omega layer for the head is only one layer, meaning that you can’t add additional make-up or use the make-up that comes with the ‘standard’ Alex mesh head HUD. You can apply a skin, but whatever make-up is or isn’t on that skin is all you get unfortunately.

That being said, we are looking at the initial ‘incarnation’ of Omega for LOGO heads, so I’m hopeful that in the future there will be additional Omega make-up layers (or applier based make-up layers) in future heads. Also, don’t forget that some creators (such as League for example) already make use of the skin layer to apply make-up to the Lelutka head (effectively, choosing an eye shadow type in their applier replaces the whole top half of your face, skin included, which keeps the make-up layer free for other things). Though I’m not certain if there are any ‘breaks’ in the skin layer for LOGO, there is certainly an option for skin designers to include several make-up styles with their skin appliers, so time will tell!

Hair Fair – Top Hair Picks for Mesh Heads

Someone once asked me what I would focus my blog on, if it weren’t for mesh bodies, and honestly I think if mesh bodies hadn’t come out I would have started focusing my blog on my other shopping addiction, HAIR!! It makes sense therefore that I am so excited about Hair Fair this year (like everyone else I imagine!).

Something is different this year though – and no, it’s not the Fair. Yes, they’re having their 10th anniversary, but the Fair is the same amazing event that is put together every year. The difference is that this year, we’re shopping with different needs. This year, we have mesh heads and mesh bodies, and strangely enough these two do have an impact on how hair looks on our avatars. How? Well Mesh Heads, that one is kinda obvious. We’re replacing the system head with a mesh head, so of course rigged hair (and the newly popular fitted mesh hair) is always going to be problematic, because it’s attaching/fitting to the invisible system head that lies under our mesh heads. Mesh bodies is another story.

It’s a relatively common practice now for hair designers to include ‘busty’ options with their hair. This became a ‘standard’ after the introduction of lolas breasts, because quite simply long hair that covered the breast area would just go straight though lolas. The thing is, the market has changed, and lolas are far less popular now that mesh bodies are in the mix, but hair designers are still creating using the ‘lolas’ busty option. So when will hair designers start editing their ‘busty’ options to be more mesh body friendly?

Whilst not a huge issue, it is an issue, because mesh body breasts (unless you have them exceptionally large) are typically much smaller than what the ‘busty/lolas’ equivalent hair has them set to be – yet they’re still bigger than system breasts. We need an ‘inbetween’. Now this leaves two options for designers – fitted hair for mesh heads/mesh bodies (of which there are too many combinations to make it practical), or making an ‘interim’ size, somewhere between normal and busty. Personally I think the latter is much needed, although it would be amazing to see some fitted mesh hair made specially for mesh heads (keep in mind that this would require models of mesh heads that hair designers most likely cannot get hold of, so it’s more a rhetorical suggestion).

All that said though, there are ways to select hair more suitable for your mesh head/body situation, and I decided that I would do this at Hair Fair!

If you’re not familiar with the terms, there are three types of hair:
Unrigged – this means you can edit/move their hair
Rigged – this means the hair is ‘attached’ to the system head, so you cannot move it up/down
Fitted mesh hair – this means the hair is fitted to the system head.

In my experience, I’ve had a hit and miss experience with the most common type (that being Rigged hair) – although more hits than misses – because it all depends on how the designer rigs it/makes the hair. Unrigged hair is your best bet for a mesh head, simply because you move it around and do what you need to make it not sink into the top of your head – where as fitted mesh hair almost always sits oddly on mesh heads. All that being said, it’s all about the designer and how they make it, so as with everything, demo!

For the Hair Fair however, here are some of my top picks for mesh heads 🙂

MINA

I’ve always loved Mina hair – it’s always so realistic and high quality, and I love the option of using materials enabled versions of the hair. The Mina hairs are all rigged, with the exception of the optional bangs on the Nicolet style – which I loved, because it meant I could adjust it a little to make it look more natural on my mesh head. That being said, all styles worked perfectly with my Lelutka head!

RUNAWAY

Runaway makes some truly traffic stopping styles, and I love her use of blunt fringes and volume. All her Hair Fair hair is rigged but the Harley hair does include an unrigged version – not that I had any trouble with it fitting my mesh head anyway.

Ask me anything meme & Hair Fair 2015!

So this week I decided to do Strawberry Singh’s latest Meme – ‘Ask me anything’. This challenge called for bloggers to create an account on Ask.FM and open it up to questions from everyone (I’ve left this account open too, so feel free to ask questions whenever you like, it’s anonymous) and quite simply, answer them! I had a lot of great questions come my way, a selection of which you’ll see below, answered for your reading pleasure 😛

In the course of this challenge, I was also asked another question which you won’t see below, because it was such a fantastic question that I’ve decided to devote a whole blog entry to answering it, so stay tuned for that!

Here we go! hehe.

1) What do you do most in SL? Do you have a partner?

Honestly I spend most of my time standing in my living room either talking in groups or blogging! At any given moment, I’m usually halfway through styling an outfit or setting a ‘scene’ up. I don’t have a partner no, unless you count Altmcalt, my male model alt – or some of my poor male friends that I con into taking a pic with me, like Nirrad here:

2) What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
My mother has a habit of telling people off whenever they put themselves down – whether they’re joking or not. She’s always told me that if you tell someone something enough times, they will believe it, no matter how far removed from the truth it is…. and over time, I’ve come to learn that she’s completely right. So ladies, think twice before you constantly ask if you’re fat, or ugly or worthless… because the more times you ask, the more likely other people are to turn around and go… “Wait, she asks that all the time… maybe she is fat/ugly/worthless and I just didn’t see it before…”. 🙂

3) What is your most embarrassing moment?
This was a hard one… because really, like most people, I’ve had more embarrassing moments than I can count lol. One of the more ‘stand out’ moments was an incident with the Lelutka head. The second lot of heads had just come out, and I’d purchased a Stella head (I already had the Leda head), and I was doing what I usually do – getting excited and playing with skins/make-ups etc in order to write the review for it. After changing the skins however, I noticed a glitch – the skin was patchy and not re-texturing in places on the face. I didn’t want to blog and write there was a glitch if there wasn’t one, so I did what we all do – ask in groups, talk to friends, try ask the CSR for Lelutka what the issue might be… only no-one had any idea what on earth was causing it. Eventually I decided to just take the head off for a while and come back to it later on, only when I removed the Stella head, I realised I was still wearing the freaking Leda head underneath it!!!! Sooooo then of course I had to go around and tell everyone ‘sorry ignore me, don’t investigate it… problem solved – I’m an idiot’ hahaha. My bad 😛

4) What quirky habit do you have?
I’m assuming you mean in RL for this one. I make a ‘thinking’ noise haha. Whenever I’ve deep in thought (irrespective of if I’m on the phone or with someone or alone), I have a habit of making a clucking noise by pressing my tongue to the roof of my mouth and off again, over and over. My friends call the ‘pondering chicken’… I need new friends 😉 haha.

5) I keep seeing designers on MP say that they are having to guess when they make mesh clothes for Maitreya bodies because the files haven’t been released. Do you know when Onyx will be releasing them so we can get clothes that are perfect instead of close guesses?
I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to this one I’m sorry, but one thing to keep in mind is that even when designers are given the models required, they aren’t perfect replicas of the in world body (in other words, the weighting/rigging etc is not as precise as it is on the actual body itself, to prevent theft). Releasing these files is a big thing for a designer to do, and I also hope that Maitreya make plans to release theirs so we can see some better fitted mesh coming out for it 🙂

6) Have you heard anything about Maitreya making Mesh Heads?
I can’t say I have. Maitreya worked with Lelutka and Glam Affair to release the Lelutka heads, and being a non-skin store, I’m not sure Maitreya will make their own per se, but we can only wait and see 🙂

7) What’s going on with the Snow Rabbit body and the update to the Nea head? Any news?

I must admit I’m waiting for information on this one too – I know the creator is working on it, but I haven’t been able to get in touch with her lately to get an update. I’ll keep trying for you though!

The Hair Fair is for a great cause, because every transaction made at Hair Fair will donate a portion to Wigs for Kids – and 100% of proceeds from bandana sales will be donated.
