Mask Mode Tutorial for Belleza Users

Hi MAddicts!

First things first – this week I’m doing one of Strawberry Singh’s famous Memes! The topic this week is ‘Ask me anything’, so I’ve set up a little page for you guys to, well, ask me anything! Okay so today I’m revisiting a topic especially for the Belleza crowd (and those with other bodies who may not be familiar with it) – Mask Mode!

Now, I recently posted a tutorial about Mask Mode, but it’s become quite a hot topic once again because for the first time, Belleza users now have access to this function for their bodies, and it’s causing a few headaches 🙂 So let’s get into it!

Weekly Mesh Body News & Fitmesh Finds!

It’s time once again for the my two weekly blogs – Weekly Fitmesh Finds and the Weekly News (I usually do a round up in this post anyway so figured I’d give it a name!).

First of all, the news in summary –

1) LOGO – LOGO are back, and they’ve released a new mesh head ‘Alex’ to celebrate! The head is gorgeous, and comes with 12 expressions (plus you can buy an additional 12 expressions seperately!). Now this head *isn’t* an applier head (meaning that currently only the LOGO skins provided with it will work with it) but don’t despair, other designers may be able to create skins for it in the future (unknown if/when). Currenly LOGO don’t have appliers for mesh bodies, but you’ll see them coming out over the next few weeks, so if you’re like me and would die without your mesh body (but love the head), hang in there for the mesh body appliers to be released.

Additionally, LOGO will be releasing a mesh body in the nearish future! The release date isn’t known but keep your eyes pealed for this one – if it’s anything like their mesh heads I know I’ll be in love!

2) EBODY UPDATE – EBody will be releasing the update to their mesh body over the next few days (V5.0). The update includes some great body improvements, including a neck fix, buttons to toggle alphas for the hands depending on if you use slink or system hands, and the addition of Omega as a built in script (so no more relay HUD!). Thankfully this update has also included a decrease in HUD memory usage from 4.8mb to 1.8mb (it was a heavy HUD alright!) and some improvements in this shape, namely legs, breasts and hips (and some improved rigging in this areas too to make them more responsive to sliders).

3) SIGNATURE’S MESH BODY – [Signature] have released a female mesh body – Alice. Alice has 10 hand poses and three feet heights, and at this stage is not Omega compatible. With any luck a Mesh Body Review will be coming for this body soon.

4) THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR – It’s happening! The Fair will open on August 1st, and will feature the best designers and their fashion for Mesh Bodies, so get ready to shop shop SHOP! I want to thank you all for your support with this event – it’s because of you all that I came up with the idea, and it’s because of your support that the idea is coming to life – so thank you to all of you, it means more than you know ❤

New Mesh Body Review – EBody by ABAR

I always love a new mesh body release and this one is no exception! This time I’m reviewing the EBody, a new mesh body by ABAR!

Typically mesh bodies are a very unique shape in comparison to the SL System Avatar body – which is why we need to wear specifically created fitmesh on them (unless we’re using the alpha HUDs). Well this creator has taken another direction with their body – the EBody is designed to work with standard sizing, and  to fit standard fitmesh! For that reason the body is quite different to the Slinks, Bellezas and Maitreyas of the world – but I still really like the concept.

The body is Omega compatible, and above you can see me wearing it with a standard fitmesh dress and the new release skin from mangomoon, Kensi (using Omega and Slink appliers) which you can pick up for 325L this weekend (including all appliers) only at the Tribalista event!

Alright so without further ado, I would like to announce the winners of our Charity contest. Now, prizes aside, tonight I was feeling so… lost for inspiration. One of those nights you have as a blogger where nothing just seems to come together – then I decided to take a trip to the Xiasumi School Festival and fell in love with the horror club!! I picked up the incredibly sexy Spoopy Nurse outfit and couldn’t help but grab this uber creepy tattoo from antielle while I was there.

The best part? Well I couldn’t wait to try these out, so I figured while I was there, why not try my new finds on and see if I could find a little nook to do some posing in. That’s when the fun started…. I didn’t realise it at first, but my ‘unusual’ appearance startled a few passers by into watching me pose – and by the time I realised they were watching me, I’d already been wriggling and writhing all demon like all over the floor for about half hour haha. After that, I decided to just roam the halls in my outfit and get into the haunted spirit of it all, just for kicks! Then well, I decided to just hang around for a while 😉

Well, Skin Fair 2015 opens its door very soon, and I know you’re all going to have an absolute blast! I’ve had so much fun exploring new skins over the past week but as always, there’s another project on the horizon! Fitmesh Bikinis, Skin Fair & Competitions!

Today I have another sneak peek from one of the biggest events on anyone’s calender – the annual Skin Fair! This time it’s [PXL]’s brand new skin, Aeryn! I had to feature this one for you guys for one primary reason – she has appliers with full body freckles which I am just in love with ❤

Now I’m wearing her with the [PXL] Sweetlips, which if you haven’t heard of yet are mesh lips that are Omega compatible (YAY!!). These lips are becoming very popular for that reason, because let’s face it, more compatibility means more designers making lipsticks and skin appliers for it for us.

On another note, this Thursday I’m going to be back at the Model’s Workshop but this time we’re having a Mesh Body Spring Fashion competition! It’s going to be a huge amount of fun, with prizes to give away to the winner, who I will be photographing for my blog! Inspecting people and why I’ve got the giggles!

Oh my gosh – so today was an exciting day for me for really, really petty reasons haha. You see, I ran into my first person wearing one of those ‘anti inspect’ shield thingos that you can buy to stop people using the ‘identify’ function to see where you purchased your mesh from. I have been DYING for this happen, because to me, it would make sense just to derender the stupid shield and then use the identify function. However I haven’t been able to test my theory, until now and….. TA-DA, yep you really can just derender it! I laugh because I find it so silly that people don’t want others to ‘steal their style’. It’s second life, there’s an endless world our there and you’re worried about me finding out who made your hair? It was Catwa by the way, shield-lady 😛

Now onto mesh topics, this week ViVi has released two gorgeous applier dresses that you need to check out. In the pictures above I’m actually wearing the Lena Perky mesh body, but she includes appliers for Slink, Omega and Wowmeh too. The reason I’ve chosen to use Lena in this instance is simple because of the skirt layer, it’s so easy!! See, there are no mesh panels between my legs here to make up the ‘dress’ (although the pack does include some for other body types). Lena has a layer that goes straight across the legs, so the applier creates it’s very own ‘skirt’ when applied! Awesome isn’t it? I’ve also styled my Lena up with some ViVi hair, and the latest skin from WOW Skins, Noelle. I’m using the Golden tone (that I absolutely loooove) with make up 1 option. You can grab Noelle from The Big Show from January 10th!

Oh Mr Mittens, you’re so silly!

Well, 2015 is here and what a year it’s going to be! 2014 saw a huge change in the fashion industry of Second Life with the introduction of mesh bodies, and the popularity of both the bodies and the demand for clothing, footwear and accessories for them has seen many good mesh clothing and skin stores close their doors.

So it’s a new chapter. A world of appliers (way too many to keep up with individually) and (thankfully) the creation of Omega Appliers to help designers keep up with the applier workload!

Personally, I’m excited – this year I’m expecting to see more bodies, especially for men, more mesh heads and hopefully much more fitmesh clothing for mesh bodies.

Eve’s tales of Fire & Ice

Someone commented to me the other day that they refused to try mesh bodies because they felt having a mesh body would make them ‘the same as everyone else’, and I must admit this stumped me a little. In SL, we now have more variety than ever in terms of bodies, butts, breasts, hands, feet etc. In fact, given an endless money supply (yes please!) there would be infinite combinations of mesh parts that one could use to create a body – how could someone say that is making everyone ‘the same’? After all, we all had the same system body before mesh… were we exactly the same then? Maybe we were in some people’s eyes, but my point is simple – given the choice we have now, of so many mesh bodies that offer different shaping, size, hands, feet and general body types – how can mesh possibly make us any more the same than system bodies did? In fact, it makes us more different than ever, because our ‘base’ bodies are interchangeable!

I think part of the fear of mesh bodies comes from lack of understanding – and I don’t blame those that suffer from this one bit. My first experience of a mesh body was a trip to TMP when the ‘free’ mesh body came out, and after that trip, I didn’t look at that body again until I came across Slink Physique. Why? It was too complicated!! Not because it was TMP, but because the thought of clothing mesh, adjusting my shape for mesh, alpha cuts, skin appliers…. it was all too much!

Now those that push past that initial shock come to see a world of individuality amongst mesh, something which I’m going to explore in my next blog. We are all unique, and in the world of SL Mesh Bodies, we’re not only different shapes and sizes, we’re different species, different styles and different in the way we live this ‘second’ life. Wait and see, I’ll show you 🙂
