Weekly Fitmesh Finds!

Well we’re at the end of the month again, which can only mean one thing… things are about to crazy in SL Fashion land!! The start of the month always marks the start of more events than you can poke a stick at, which when you’re hunting for good fitmesh fashion for your mesh body, is a GREAT thing!

I’ve been a little disappointed this week, whilst running around hunting down fitmesh for you all. The more I searched, the more I came across items that were being marketed as ‘for Maitreya’ or ‘for Belleza’ or whatever… but were in fact just standard mesh. Now I understand why this is happening (the mesh body designers really need to get their designer kits out for mesh) but for a consumer, it’s frustrating… what is really made for my body, and what isn’t??

In my mind, I have my own classification system. Let’s assume I’m talking about my Maitreya body:

Genuine Fitmesh for Maitreya/Belleza/Physique/Whatever – This is 100% fitmesh for your mesh body, usually released by the Mesh Body designer themselves, or designers they closely collaborate with. For Example – Maitreya’s clothing range

Attempted Fitmesh for Maitreya/Belleza/Physique/Whatever – This is fitmesh that has been as closely approximated as possible to the Mesh Body (ie. some talented designer has found a way to recreate the sizing/skeleton/weightings of the mesh body so they can make items for it). For example – Blueberry, DE Designs.

Standard Mesh that may work for Maitreya/Belleza/Physique/Whatever- This is basically normal mesh items (eg. a dress) that just turns out to work well with the cuts of the alpha HUD of whichever body. This is still just normal mesh.

Standard Mesh – Non fitmesh/standard sizing mesh.

So, what can you do? Well here’s what I recommend:

1) Always DEMO!! When you Demo, see if the item has a ‘sizes’ specifically for your mesh body (eg. Look at a Bluberry item, you will see a standard sizes, PLUS a size for Maitreya, Slink and Belleza). This is a good indicator (though not conclusive, always try it on) of whether or not the item is fitmesh for your body.

2) When you DEMO the item, go into edit shape (just like you would do if you wanted to make your boobs bigger haha) and move the sliders around. A well done fitmesh item will MOVE with your body as it grows – a badly made one will cause skin to poke through the minute you move the slider. Make sure you try your breasts, arms and butt.

3) When looking at the demo, make sure there is no ‘breakthrough’ at the edges of the mesh item. Remember, you can use your alpha cuts to hide ares that poke though, but if the EDGE of the dress/pant/whatever is cutting into your body, there’s no way you can alpha that out without seeing blank spaces on your body.

 

Well that went on for much longer than I inteded it to, so here’s this week’s finds!

Blueberry – Cossy Shorts – at Uber (tested these, LOVE THEM, such a perfect fit!!!) – Maitreya, Belleza & Physique sizes

HUCCI – Yigi leggins & Waana halter top – Maitreya and Slink Physique sizes – (tested, these are attempted Fitmesh, excellent fit!)

DE Designs – Tori Pants – Maitreya, Belleza and Slink Physique sizes (untested)

DE Designs – Carrie Sweater – Maitreya, Belleza and Slink Physique sizes (untested)

 

The new Slink Physique!

Well it’s been on everyone’s “Can’t wait to see it” list – and the day is finally here! Siddeon has finally released the new Slink Physique/Visage/Hands/Feet updates! That’s right, just about all of Slink’s items have had an update and it’s definitely been well worth the wait! The new Physique body is more shapely, especially in the breasts and legs, and is just better to look at overall! The same goes with the Visage, the faces are much prettier and less ‘harsh’ than they used to be, which was always my concern with them.

My only disappointment really is that whilst Slink have included a tonne more alpha HUD cuts, the cuts for the breasts are still too big to wear many standard mesh tops (grr!).

Anyway, go check it out and I will update my review for it, but in the interim here’s the run down:

The best bits:
* Saving alpha cut combinations!!! Yaaaay!! This means you can make an outfit, make the alpha selections, and save it for future use. Loving that!
* More shapely breasts, legs and hips
* More alpha cuts!
* Included skins are now on the HUD for easier user

The not so great bits:
* Still not enough breast cuts to make it easy to wear corsets/horizontally cut dresses.
* All current fitmesh items made for Physique now won’t fit perfectly… the model in itself has been changed, which means that all the poor designers out there are going to have to go back and refit all of their fitmesh physique clothing 😦 HUCCI has already announced that she’s on it, but I feel bad for the poor designers out there, so go easy on them guys! In the meantime, demo any clothing that says it’s fitmesh for physique and keep an eye out for fitmesh clothing with Physique v2 on it.

And one last thing… this blog is for you guys, so I’m wondering what you prefer looking at. Do you prefer the different styled pictures/backdrops/themes etc that I’m doing now, or would you prefer something plainer and more consistent so you can easily look at the clothing items? Thoughts?

Blueberry’s latest, doing some speaking and one for the boys!

So today I had the absolute pleasure of getting my excited little hands on Blueberry’s upcoming release, her Cossy Shorts and I’m in looooove with them. Don’t be jealous though, you’ll get a chance to grab these at the upcoming round of Uber (and if you haven’t grabbed the tank top already – head over to No 21 and grab it!!). Both come in sizes for Maitreya, Belleza and Physique!!

I also have a little something for the boys today – Just BECAUSE is about to release these sexy tailored sweats, which I paired with a new male mesh body I came across, Anthony by Signature. Now I know this body was released at TMD some time back, and it would appear that there are no intentions to upgrade it/provide layers etc, so I won’t review it, but for 500L he’s not a bad looking guy. He does have an alpha HUD, and yes the head is mesh, but you can wear it with a system head if you prefer. As I mentioned though, he’s not new and doesn’t appear to be getting updated, but it’s good to see some more ‘normalish’ looking male mesh out there.

An another note altogether, I was honoured to recieve an email from the Model’s Workshop asking me to speak about Mesh Bodies and do a little bit of Q&A to help them learn more about the bodies. It’s always so heart warming to me to be asked to do things like this, and I’m very much looking forward to getting to speak with the models and having some Mesh Body styling fun!

Hucci for Maitreya and Babygirl dreams…

Today’s top headline – HUCCI has released their first Maitreya fitmesh outfit!! You can see me rockin’ it in the picture above, and it comes in soooo many colour options you should go check it out! While you’re there look at your butt, I don’t know about you but I looooove how these pants wrap around my Maitreya bubble butt!

Weekly Fitmesh Finds <3

It’s that time again – Mesh Body Fitmesh Finds!!! Now as always – demo demo demo!!! All of these items are ‘attempts at fitmesh for mesh bodies’, which means basically, they’re not ‘genuine’ (ie. not supported by the mesh body creator). That means that whilst these designers have done their best to make these items fit, they’re not as perfect as they could be.

This week Kustom 9 has some lovely fitmesh, as does the Seraphim Social event, so check these out.

Altamura Mesh Body Review is here!

I’m always so excited when a new mesh body review is happening, and this one is no exception! This one was a first for me because the mesh avatar is actually a complete mesh avatar (head, hands, feet, body). Best of all, it had (seemingly) endless alpha cuts and it was finally a mesh head that has big, beautiful eyes!!

So make sure you give this one a read and head over to their store to check their mesh bodies out and let me know what you think. Do you think full mesh avatars will take off?

Beefing with Budgies and a bit off topic today…

As a blogger, we’re known for our weird habits (standing in our studios for hours, wearing bizzare half co-ordinated outfits trying to get a style right) and of course – breaking stuff. Yep it’s true, we’re breakers (at least I am). Now it’s totally intentional, and usually because we get some crazy idea for a photo and we can’t get the item in question to do what we want it to do…. so we’re moving it, stretching it, unlinking it… doing god knows what to it really.

It’s this habit that probably had poor Cortez, the genius behind Free Bird, thinking I’m a weirdo when I IM’d her earlier asking if there was a way to break my budgies out of their cage lol. I had an image come into my mind about a face-off with the budgie. Don’t get me wrong – love budgies, but when I was younger (around 12) we had one in my house called Captain. He was a cute lil blue budgie, and he was a breed that was able to actually learn to speak (well, parrot back phrases). My mum, being the eternal optimist, taught Captain to say “Don’t worry be happy”…. a phrase he said over…. and over…. and over…. and over…. lol. He also learnt a few other phrases during his lifetime, my least favourite of which was a little phrase my sister taught him: “Daria stuffs her bra.” As you can imagine, many fights arose out of that, but up until he passed away when I was in my late teens, he accused me of stuffing my bra whenever I was there (and probably when I wasn’t).

So, in my weird blogger mind, I decided to face-off with a bird… and since I couldn’t break him out of his cage, I brought the cage to me 😉

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled mesh body talk….

Belleza Venus, bargains and Valentine’s Day!

I thought I’d have a little fun with my Valentine’s Day post as a sign of support to a friend of mine who has recently gone through a bad breakup of a long term relationship. She was feeling a little down as Valentine’s Day rolled around (as many do), so this is my little homage to ‘F**k off Valentine’s Day!’ 😉

One other quick thing before I let you all back to your V-Day celebrations – I’ve had a few questions come to me in relation to my ‘fitmesh finds’ list. I’ve mentioned it a few times, but I’ll say it again – the items I list (unless I specifically identify them as ‘genuine fitmesh for x body’) are all attempts at fitmesh for mesh bodies. This means that in many cases, they won’t have the extra sizes (such as ‘push-up’ breast options for Belleza body), and they won’t be as perfect as genuine body fitmesh. This list is a guide to show you items that you may not otherwise know about, so always use your own discretion and demo demo DEMO!

Well I promised you all that I’d start a weekly blog devoted purely to giving you information about any fitmesh I come across for mesh bodies…. and here it is! Now please be aware that whilst I may have tried some of it, you MUST try a demo to see if you like how it looks on you (which is always the case – if you’re not sure why, read my last blog entry).
